How it works

During the visit

The exam is done at the practice, in the same specialist consultation. It allows a dynamic assessment: joints, tendons and soft tissues are also observed in motion.

SGUM qualification

The specialist holds the SGUM qualification in musculoskeletal ultrasound. The scan is performed by the physician who sees you.

The exam is performed by the specialist with SGUM qualification, in the same consultation. Whether it is indicated is decided case by case.

What is musculoskeletal ultrasound?

Does it also guide injections?

Does it include laboratory tests?

No. This page describes only musculoskeletal imaging and injection guidance.

Is it covered by insurance?

The practice is RME certified and, in Ticino, bills complementary insurers: with complementary insurance, under certain conditions, the treatment can be reimbursed. Patients with basic insurance only receive a clear cost estimate at the visit and pay directly.

The practice is centrally located in Italian-speaking Switzerland, also reachable from Mendrisio, Bellinzona, Locarno and Chiasso, and is easy to reach from Italy, Milan, Como, Varese and Lombardy by car and by train.
